We have chosen to make wooden balls for the ancient game of bocce ball. Originating in the Middle East some 7,000 years ago, the game was popular with ancient Greeks and Romans. It hit its hey day in 16th century Italy, where it was something of a national sport. Much of the vocabulary and manner of play stems from this period.
